Dr Gerard
Bulger BSc MBBS DCH FRCGP FRACGP CCFP I am returning for a
short while to Cannonvale from 1st November 2024.
I was
delighted to be working back in Australia at Cannonvale in March to
May 2024. I am now able to
offer an out of hours
Telehealth service, even when I am back in the UK (The advantage is I
will
be in-hours in the UK). This service is being initiated by
the
Cannonvale Team. My appointments are running from 18:00 to
23:50 Brisbane Time Mondays Tuesdays Wednesdays.

The consultation itself cannot be Medicare rebated. Any
resulting
prescriptions are PBS funded, depending on the medication, and are sent
by Escript. Referrals and investigations are as normal; Medicare funded
depending on the provider and test chosen.
My
background: 2009-2017 I was based in Cairns at
the Doctors Mulgrave Road where I also did
did short spells at Airlie Beach and Townsville for The Doctors Group. When based in Australia I
started a remote medicine
career working Borroloola, Antarctica (Casey Station) twice with the
Australian
Antarctic Division, Falklands, Tristan Da Cunha, St Helena, Guinea
Conakry,
Deep Sea oil rig ship Gulf of Mexico to Gabon, and Indonesia and
Thailand. In 2024 I worked back on the
Falklands. In the UK
I work on Yell Shetland and in
London Prisons. I am old enough to have seen most conditions.
Professional
development and keeping up to date includes the U.K appraisal
revalidation
system for the General Medical Council and the Australian RACGP
programme for AHPRA
accreditation. I prefer Australian clinical courses as they seem
tougher,
expecting doctors to manage conditions on their own, as many doctors
are indeed
working in remote locations.
The
letters after my name include DCH: Diploma
of Child Health and Fellowship of UK RCGP, and Fellowship of Royal
Australian
College of GPs. And Canadian College of Family Medicine
